The CNIO - CaixaResearch Frontiers Meeting: "Molecular and Cellular Hallmarks of Aging" (3rd edition), will be held at the Spanish National Cancer Research Centre (CNIO) in Madrid, Spain on 17-19 November 2025.

This third CFM meeting on Aging covers parallel and convergent approaches to disentangle the complexity of human aging. We will bring together disciplines that only marginally connect to one another experimentally, while overlap in their focus on aging. The meeting with span aging research from molecular, cellular, and organismal levels and approaches, with a comprehensive scope. A main goal is to foster discussions and interactions among mouse and invertebrate model geneticists, molecular biologists, biochemists; and from topics ranging from metabolism to regeneration, from chromatin to senescence, from cellular energetics to telomeres.

Abstract submission deadline: October 20, 2025.

Registration deadline: November 3, 2025.

Con motivo del Día Mundial de la Investigación del Cáncer, el próximo 24 de septiembre, desde el Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) queremos invitaros al evento:

El cáncer también se hereda. Para prevenirlo, conoce tus genes, en el Auditorio Caixaforum, Madrid (Paseo del Prado 36), a las 11:00 horas.

Entre un 10% y un 15% de los cánceres son consecuencia de alteraciones genéticas hereditarias. Saber que se ha nacido con una mutación que predispone al cáncer puede ayudar a prevenirlo, pero ¿a quién dirigirse para saberlo? ¿hasta qué punto aumentan las opciones de prevención gracias a los últimos avances en genética?

Ángel Carracedo Álvarez, experto internacional en genética, María Currás, especialista en diagnóstico y consejo genéticos y Mercedes Robledo, investigadora del cáncer hereditario, abordarán estas y otras cuestiones en este acto de divulgación abierto y gratuito.

Ángel Carracedo Álvarez es catedrático de Medicina Legal de la Universidad de Santiago de Compostela y coordinador del proyecto IMPACT-Genómica (ISCIII). María Currás dirige la unidad de Cáncer Familiar y Mercedes Robledo lidera el grupo de Cáncer Endocrino Hereditario, ambos dentro del programa de Genómica del Cáncer del CNIO.

Completará la jornada una mesa redonda con los ponentes y, además, un miembro de la iniciativa filantrópica Amigos/as del CNIO (el 100% de las donaciones a Amigos/as del CNIO se destinan a la investigación del cáncer en el CNIO). 

Conducirá el acto la periodista Cristina Villanueva, autora del libro Desplegando velas.

Cells have evolved complex macromolecular machines capable of dealing with the challenges involved in the manipulation of nucleic acids during DNA replication, DNA repair, RNA processing, transcription, translation, and other DNA and RNA transactions. The combination of advances in cryo-electron microscopy with cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and biophysics is providing unprecedented advances in our understanding of these complex and highly regulated processes. This meeting will bring together research leaders in the field with a focus on the integration of structural, biophysical and biochemical studies to define the molecular mechanisms underlying the function of the large molecular machines carrying out nuclei acid transactions essential for the cell and the organism.
